Artist's Description
Over time, more than 300 ships have been lost to the fickle whims of Lake Superior; for this reason, the lake's stretch from Marquette, Michigan to Whitefish Point, Michigan is referred to as the "Shipwreck Coast." In this haunting image, remnants of an old shipwreck in the foreground give contrast to a traveling freighter in the distance. A conversion to black and white adds to the drama of the image.
