Description
The Delaware Mine was a bustling place, during the years of the Copper Boom in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The mine was in operation from 1847 to 1887, during which time, eight million pounds of copper was removed. The old stone buildings with their eyebrow window accents have a charm reminiscent of an earlier time. The view in this image is of the inside of a building through the exterior window. Time has moved on, and birch trees have taken root. Another building can be seen in the background.
